Join Inspired Memory Care's trainers at the historic Belvedere Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, and  increase your proficiency with empowering individuals living with dementia to enjoy their fullest lives.  Techniques emphasize creating opportunities for independence, conversation, leadership roles, and connection to peers and the community.

Certified Dementia Connections Facilitator Courses are limited to sixteen participants to facilitate collaboration and interaction in the classroom.  This two day course in the heart of the greatest city in the world is designed to spark creativity, inspiration, and perspective in your everyday practice.


 Day 1 (9:00am - 5:00pm)                                            

 Day 2 (9:00am - 5:00pm)                                            

Participants are introduced to key concepts of partnering for collaboration in the care of persons living with a dementia, to support an active and meaningful lifestyle.

Courses include: ​Setting A Humanistic Framework for the Treatment of Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias, Communicating Creatively, and Aligning Our Approaches.

Participants incorporate techniques and explore resources to develop increased self awareness within their practice, a non-pharmacologic approach to distressing behaviors, and strategies to enhance active participation, leadership, and quality of life for persons living with dementia.

Courses include: ​Recreational Modalities for Self Care & Stress Prevention, Maximizing Independence, Minimizing Distressing Behaviors, and ​Strengths-based Assessment and Program Design.
Continuing Education Pre-Approvals Include:

13.0 Contact Hours through the New York State Department of Education Board for Social Work​​

13.0 Contact Hours through the New York State Department of Education Board for Mental Health Professionals (LCAT's)

13.0 Contact Hours through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification

PRE-WORK REQUIREMENTS: ​One case study to share with the trainers

  • 13 hours of classroom training with Inspired Memory Care's principal trainers
  • Three video consent forms and three 30 minute, videotaped interactions demonstrating appropriate application of techniques with post-critique
  • First video due within one-month post-training
  • Second video due within two months post-training
  • Third video due within three months post-training

*IMC Principals will support if you have difficulty with obtaining consents or with videotaping at our Training and Resource Center.

Classroom Instruction

​This certification training is not intended to certify the participant as a trainer of the content learned.

Deadlines and Cancellations: Should you be unable to attend the course after registering, you must notify IMC no later than June 1st, 2020, via phone or email in order to receive a 75% refund.  Registrants who cancel after June 1st, 2020 or are no-shows will be held responsible for the full amount of their registration fee.

Although no credits or refunds will be available after June 1st, 2020, organizations may choose to send qualified substitutes, pending IMC approval and space-permitting.

Substitutes must:
1.  Submit a completed application to IMC, and

2.  Receive approval from IMC for attendance at least five business days in advance of the course

  •  A 4 year college degree and/or licensure in your field of practice and
  • ​A minimum of three years' experience in a health-related field ​and
  • ​A minimum of two years' dementia-related experience
